Begonia maculata is a tropical houseplant with spectacular spotted leaves. Leaf color varies due to lighting, but are generally a shimmery green with iridescent silver spots. The underside of the leaves can be a rosy blush to deep crimson. Begonia flowers can range from white to bright pink. This plant enjoys bright indirect light and warm conditions. It should be grown in well-draining soil and watered when the top 1/2" of the media is dry.
Begonia maculata is not necessarily the easiest houseplant to grow for beginners, but once you find the sweet spot regarding your conditions and growing environment, it requires very little care. The reward is certainly worth any extra effort.
Houseplants are potted in a house mix with appropriate drainage. Components include potting soil, peat, perlite, orchid bark, and sphagnum moss. Plants are shipped potted in 3" pots.
