These seed-grown plants are a few years old and displaying mature pitchers. Thanks to open pollination, each seedling has unique characteristics. Purpurea is characterized by squat rosetted pitchers whose lids (hoods) are open to the sky. Hoods may be ruffled and display intricate veining. This species of Sarracenia is generally considered to be the most cold-hardy, and may retain pitchers throughout dormant periods.
Plants are grown outdoors and will be experiencing dormancy between Oct-March. Sarracenia are shipped in a 3" pot with a house mix comprised of peat moss and perlite.
