Utricularia calycifida has broad leaves with purple veining, and produces lovely pink flowers. If you grow it in a clear container or net pot, you get the added benefit of seeing the tiny underground carnivorous traps. It is adaptable to many environments but is an especially excellent choice for the open terrarium or paludarium.
Utricularia are shipped potted in 3" net pots with a mix of sphagnum moss and perlite.
Please note - it is possible that these pots may contain additional species of Utricularia and/or live sphagnum moss. It is probable that they contain springtails. Springtails are tiny, detritus-consuming bugs that are beneficial to carnivorous plants. Not only do they clean up fungus and organic matter, but they also serve as perfect snacks for the tiny bladder traps. They are not harmful to humans, pets, other plants, or property.
